Expect Third-party iPod shuffle Headphones To Be Costlier

Few days back I posted about iPod Shuffle 3rd gen and I had also written about the third party headphones compatibility. Here’s some news about the compatibility. Apple following it’s habit of squeezing iPod accessory manufacturers for license fees has now extended even to the headphones! It’s now clear that iPod shuffle can only be controlled by headphones with a special hardware authentication chip from Apple. That obviously means that third parties will have to pay Apple for just manufacturing shuffle compatible accessories. And of course, the manufacturer will pass on the cost to you. And I can say that the headphones included with iPod Shuffle are not that comfortable, and what happens while your headphones are dead? Your shuffle is dead in that case. Well, are you still planning to buy ipod shuffle after knowing all these things?
